Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-25 DRAFT — pending lawyer review before launch

1. The short version

Stringer uses very few cookies, and none for advertising or cross-site tracking. The cookies we do use are necessary for the Service to function (authentication, fraud prevention) or for privacy-first analytics that don't fingerprint you.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow websites to remember information about you — your login session, your preferences, etc. Some cookies are strictly necessary; others are optional.

3. Cookies Stringer uses

3.1 Strictly necessary (cannot be disabled)

  • Session / authentication cookies (Ghost) — keep you logged in to your subscription. Expire when you close your browser or log out.
  • CSRF tokens — protect against cross-site request forgery on the writer application form and account pages.
  • Stripe fraud-prevention cookies — set by Stripe on payment pages to detect suspicious activity. See Stripe's cookie policy.

3.2 Analytics (privacy-first, no fingerprinting)

  • Plausible — measures site traffic without using cookies at all. Plausible is GDPR-compliant by default and does not track individuals across sites.
  • PostHog (anonymized) — measures funnel behavior (signup flow, conversion). Configured to not capture personally identifiable information by default. Sets a single first-party cookie to identify a session.

3.3 What we don't use

  • No advertising or marketing cookies.
  • No third-party tracking pixels.
  • No cross-site tracking.
  • No data brokers.

4. Controlling cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you delete existing cookies and block new ones either entirely or per site. Disabling strictly-necessary cookies will prevent core features (like staying logged in) from working.

To opt out of PostHog analytics, you can disable JavaScript on Stringer or use any "Do Not Track" browser extension. We honor browser-level Do Not Track signals.

5. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change. We'll add a notice on the homepage if the change is material.
